Age & Physical Condition

 

• Minimum age: 13 years old for group surf activities; 4 years old for private surf activities.

• Participants must be in suitable physical condition to take part in surf activities.

• Participants must have basic swimming skills. If not, please inform us in advance (by email) so that we can arrange suitable conditions.

 

Time & Place

 

• The surf activities location and schedule will be sent a few days before the first lesson (normally on Saturdays or Sundays).

• Any lesson time requested during the booking process is considered a preference only and is never guaranteed. The final lesson schedule is determined by Surf Cascais according to surf conditions, tides, weather forecasts, operational requirements, instructor availability and safety considerations, and cannot be adjusted to customers' personal preferences.

• Any changes to the confirmed lesson time or location required due to surf or weather conditions will be communicated by email as soon as reasonably possible, and no later than 2 hours before the lesson.

 

Safety & Conduct

 

• We reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or displaying inappropriate behaviour.

• All participants must follow the instructor’s instructions and comply with safety rules.

 

Liability

 

• Participation in surf activities involves inherent risks associated with surfing and takes place at the participant's own risk.

• Despite safety measures in place, surf activities take place in a changing environment with currents, waves, other students, free surfers, and potentially dangerous equipment (surfboards).

• Surf Cascais is not responsible for personal injuries, material damage, or losses during surf activities, unless caused by gross negligence (e.g., technical faults or failure to provide essential safety information).

• All participants should have valid personal health or travel insurance that covers medical treatment and accidents during sports activities, including surfing.

• Refunds are not available for surf activities or packages, except in cases of serious illness or injury occurring during our surf activities, confirmed by an independent medical report and acknowledged by Surf Cascais staff.

• All participants must:

  • Follow the instructor’s guidance at all times.

  • Use the provided equipment responsibly.

• All equipment is inspected and maintained regularly to ensure it is in good working condition before each session.

• By booking, the customer accepts these terms & conditions and cancellation policy.

• These terms and conditions are governed by Portuguese law. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Cascais/Lisbon.

 

Equipment Care

 

• Customers are responsible for all surf equipment provided during all surf activities.

• Damage caused by misuse or negligence may result in repair charges.

 

Weather Conditions

 

• Surf activities take place in all weather conditions unless safety is compromised.

• Surf activities may be cancelled due to lack of waves or extreme conditions. In such cases, Surf Cascais may reschedule the lesson or issue a voucher, at its discretion.

• For “Surfing Days” (two lessons per day), the schedule may be adjusted to one lesson per day or one extended session (~3 hours) depending on conditions. Students will only be charged for lessons actually held. This usually applies in winter months.

 

Personal Belongings

 

• We strongly advise students not to bring valuables to the beach or leave them in the vans. Surf Cascais cannot be held responsible for theft, loss, or damage of personal items, whether during activities, in the vans, or at the beach.

   

Photography/Media

 

• By joining our surf activities, participants consent to Surf Cascais using photos and videos taken during activities for promotional purposes, unless they inform us otherwise in writing prior to the lesson.

   

Personal Data & Marketing

 

• Surf Cascais collects and processes guests’ personal data (e.g., name, contact details, booking history) for accommodation and activity management.

• Guests’ data may also be used for marketing purposes, including promotions, newsletters, and special offers.

• Guests have the right to opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting Surf Cascais via email or following the unsubscribe instructions in any marketing message.

• Personal data will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes without explicit consent.

• By booking or staying at Surf Cascais, guests consent to the collection, use, and storage of their data for the purposes outlined above.

 

Force Majeure Clause

 

• Surf Cascais cannot be held responsible or liable for cancellations or changes caused by circumstances beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, government restrictions, strikes, or similar events). In such cases, we will do our best to reschedule activities or issue a voucher.

Surf Vouchers conditions (applied for short or long term residents)

 

• Surf Lessons, included in vouchers, must be booked or changed until 24h before the time of the lesson via email.

• The no-show or cancellation on the spot to a booked Surf Lesson will be charged.

• The weekly surf lessons schedule will be sent every weekend (normally on Saturdays).

• The Surf Lessons schedule is done by the Surf School and it's not flexible to the student's availability.

• The surf packages or surf vouchers are personal and they can't be shared between multiple people.

• All Surf Packages are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

• They follow all the other surf activities conditions in this page.

Booking Confirmation / Deposits

​

• The booking deposit is charged immediately to reserve instructor availability and lesson capacity;

• Payment of the deposit confirms that the customer has read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions, including that lesson times are determined by Surf Cascais according to surf conditions, tides, weather forecasts, operational requirements and instructor availability, and not according to the customer's preferred schedule.

Surf Activities // Cancellation Policy

 

Important: Any reduction in the number of participants is considered a cancellation of those places and follows the same rules below.

​

After the booking confirmation is made, we will accept cancellations under the following terms:​

​​

• Up to 30 days before start date: Full refund of deposit.

• Between 30 and 20 days before start date: Refunds are not generally available, but a voucher equal to the deposit amount will be issued (valid for 1 year, non-transferable, non-rebookable).

• From 20 days before start date until the starting day: The full deposit amount will be charged.

• On the starting day: No refunds will be given. Refunds are only possible in the event of serious illness or injury, certified by a doctor, that prevents further participation, and acknowledged by Surf Cascais staff. Minor injuries (e.g., small cuts, bruises, sunburn, muscle soreness, menstrual pain, etc.) do not qualify.

• Customers are responsible for arriving at the agreed meeting point on time. Late arrivals may result in reduced lesson time or be treated as a no-show without entitlement to a refund or rescheduling.

• No refunds, credits or partial refunds will be given for lessons or services not attended or voluntarily left unused by the customer.

If a customer decides to cancel because the confirmed lesson time differs from their preferred requested time, this is considered a customer cancellation and no refund or voucher will be issued other than those provided under the standard cancellation policy above.​​

Notes:

 

• Vouchers can only be issued once and are valid for 1 year.

• We do not refund or rebook any pre-changed bookings or issued vouchers
